6th Kyu Testing Requirements

Important Points
- Sparring, five step sparring, and bag work may be a part of any belt test.
- A written examination covering Japanese terminology, Shotokan history, and Shotokan
techniques will be given several weeks before the physical belt test. Testing students must pass the written test with at least
80 percent of the questions correct to be eligible to take the physical skills test.
- During the physical skills test, be prepared to answer oral questions relating to Japanese
terminology and Shotokan history.
- Good hip rotation while executing techniques is a requirement at this level.
- Students are expected to know all 10th, 9th, 8th, and 7th kyu testing requirements as well as the following 6th kyu requirements.
Fighting Stances
- Reverse punch to front snap kick
- Reverse punch to round house kick
- Lunging reverse
Kata
Self-Defense
- Same as 7th kyu requirements.
