Belt colors vary between karate styles and dojos. The belt rankings for O'Kaigan Shotokan Karate-Do, and links to the testing requirements for each level, are listed below. The japanese term for each color is included in parenthesis.

Colored Belt Rankings (Kyu)

Beginner - 11th kyu white belt
The only requirement is enthusiasm.

8th kyu - 2nd blue belt
(midori)

7th kyu - 1st green belt

5th kyu - 1st purple belt
